The University Library Service of the University of Milan is pleased to invite you to the first Erasmus+ Library Staff Training Week, which will be held from Monday, 16 October to Friday, 20 October 2023.

""The main purpose of the week is to provide participants with the opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas, knowledge and best practices regarding academic libraries.
This peer-learning event will be a unique chance to share expertise and develop new skills, strengthen partnerships and network with international colleagues.

The programme will include presentations, visits, networking activities and cultural events.

The main themes of the week are:

  • E-learning projects for Information Literacy and User Education
  • Reference services
  • Digital Libraries (collection development policy and author services)
  • Innovation projects (integrating collections into newly designed libraries)
  • Archives

Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the programme with a short presentation of their home institution, sharing experiences about innovative projects or other topics examined during the exchange week.

In addition to the main themes mentioned above, the topics of choice may include:

  • Challenges for research libraries in the digital age
  • Services for researchers
  • Digitalisation
  • Public engagement of research libraries
  • Role of the liaison/embedded librarian

We are also pleased to include in the programme two other library institutions in Milan: the University of Milano-Bicocca and the public libraries of the Milan Library System. They will present their activities and their most innovative projects.

Participants are expected to obtain Erasmus+ mobility grants from their home institutions to cover travel costs, board and lodging and other expenses related to their participation.

Please note that the programme is provisional, and any adjustments will be announced well in advance of the event.
The working language will be English for all activities.

Applications must be submitted by Monday, 4 September 2023.
Results will be promptly communicated via email after the application deadline.
