For simple queries, the service will email a reply within 3 working days. You can request information on bibliographic sources and search strategies, as well as information on the University Library services.

Access to the service

How can I use this service? Fill out the form, indicating your email and formulating your question as clearly as possible. The compilation of the "Sources already consulted" field will allow us to indicate search tools alternative or complementary to those already used. It is advisable to indicate the specific library for your request.
A reply will be sent to the e-mail address indicated within 3 working days of the day following receipt of the request.

Who is the service for? The service is for everyone. Institutional users can login, send questions and find the answers in the personal area (My Library Account) of ?? the catalogue.

What can we help you with? Location of books and journals at libraries; bibliographic verification of events and dates; biographical verification; legislative references; acronyms; introductory bibliographical references on an author, a movement or a topic; support in the use of catalogues, databases, electronic resources and websites; information about University Library services.

The following information is not provided: complete and exhaustive bibliographies; legal and medical opinions; confidential and personal information; specific information of an administrative nature (research grants, enrolments, etc.), information regarding the organization of the University and courses (timetables, programs, etc.) which can be found by consulting the University website.
Interlibrary loan services and document delivery services are not provided; these are handled by each University library.


Digital Library Help Desk

The service provides answers by e-mail to questions regarding access to the Digital Library (databases, e-books and e-journals) and possible technical malfunctions.
It also provides information on the resources that are subscribed to by the University and on specific conditions of use.

How do I use the service?  Write to bd.help@unimi.it using your institutional address (name.surname@studenti.unimi.it or name.surname@unimi.it or name.surname@guest.unimi.it).
You will receive a reply as soon as possible. All requests are dealt with on the working day in which they are received, and most questions receive a reply within the next working day.

Who is the service for? Although the service is for all users, please note that access to Digital Library resources is reserved for those who are actively studying or working at the University of Milan.

What can we help you with? Failure to access an electronic resource in subscription; difficulty with off-campus access and use of the proxy server; problems downloading an article; information regarding particular configurations for accessing Digital Library resources.

The following information is not provided:  information on the renewal of loans or reservation of printed books; problems with access to your personal area (My Library account) in  ??the University Catalogue; information about specific library services. In addition, interlibrary loans and document delivery services are not provided; these are handled by each University library.
